Being Top Of Mind Is Not Enough
As I was getting ready to leave for work, I made my son some cereal for breakfast. He says to me, as he’s stirring his spoon around in his bowl, “Dad, look, it’s the number 9 in my cereal.”. A piece of his cereal was in the shape of a 9. Why was this significant? Well, he’s in kindergarten and during this crucial developmental period, they are recognizing numbers and letters. This is what was on his mind when he first got up. As I was driving into work, I decided to turn off the podcast and music and let that thought marinade.
What Is On The Mind Of Your Customers?
Immediately I started thinking about how marketing and being top of mind to your customers or potential customers is so crucial. This is one of the main goals for marketing, yet a lot of businesses struggle to do it, or do it well. However, when you are top of mind, what exactly do your potential customers think of? How does your product or service make them feel?
It’s Not Just Being Top Of Mind
Think about this. If you had your customers' attention right now, what would you say or do? How would you make them feel? Most of us don’t think about each interaction being so important to being the guide to our customers journey to becoming a hero in their own story. When your customers or potential customers are thinking about you or the problems you solve, it is critical that they see you as not only a solution to their problem, but someone they want to make time for because of the value you bring them and the experience it creates. How do you communicate something that can not only have a powerful effect on one customer but several? Or even a potential customer? And how do you do it consistently?
