What Type Of Marketer Are You?
Winter is here. It can be fun and magical. Skiing in the mountains. Christmas lights hanging on houses. Building snowmen. But it also comes with one big downside. Shoveling snow from your driveway. Having lived in Utah for most of my life, it’s just been a part of my winter responsibilities. However, as I was taking care of my parents driveway today, I noticed something. There are three types of people when it comes to clearing snow. One who invests in a snow blower. One who invests in a shovel just enough to clear a path. And those who do nothing at all.
Three Types Of People.
The person who uses the shovel, struggles more than the person who doesn’t have a snowblower, but not as much as the person who has nothing. The common theme between all three of these people is you can’t avoid it. It’s there and you think about it every time it snows. The people with shovels are fence sitters. They have a mental battle every year whether or not to invest in a snowblower or just use what they have? How many times will it snow? Is it going to pay for itself? Does it save me time in the end? The person with the snow blower doesn’t mind the storm because they can see beyond the problem as they know how to approach each storm with a clear plan to remove the snow.
Will This Year Be Different?
I relate this to business and marketing. There’s people who are willing to invest in tools and are continuing to learn using better tools to get the job done to create awareness and drive new business. There’s some who try to do more of the work themselves just enough to be seen but spend lots of time thinking if they are doing enough because there’s no clear plan. And then there’s those who do nothing. It still weighs heavily on their mind and they know they need to be seen, but year after year they don’t take any action and it shows.
Take Charge Of Your Marketing.
Invest in the right tools. Invest in the right people. Don’t let the weight of doing nothing, while you’re feeling the pain from your lack of marketing, stop you from being successful and really helping your customers find a solution to their problems. Don’t be a victim to your marketing. It’s not just a problem for you. It’s a problem for your customers if they can’t find the right solution because you aren’t being seen.
